TRIPS furth of SCOTLAND
We are involved in a number of special-interest tours abroad, especially
a winter tour in Poland, looking for large mammals and any birds caught in their slipstream. I have recently (19 January 2019) finished this year's trip.
Watch this page for news of future Poland in Winter (PiW) trips.
Elk (Alces alces) observed 11 January 2019 on the road between Gdansk and Gołdap.
Known as moose in North America. (The large deer Cervus canadensis commonly called elk in NA is usually referred to as wapiti by wildlife biologists in Europe. Confused? - we'll sort it out if you join the trip.)
They are not in a pen - just behind a fence.
